Amboy Fire Protection District has a rich history dating back all the way to 1871. With approximately 500 emergency incidents each year, Amboy FPD is a great example of what these rural departments face year after year, an increasing call volume and growing geographical service area. In November 2024, the village of Harmon, Illinois voted to approve a referendum to annex into Amboy Fire Protection District. While Amboy FPD provides fire, rescue, and medical emergency services to a year-round population of 8,000 within the city and around the rural area of the district, the nearby campground can increase the seasonal population to over 50,000 during peak summer travel season.
Amboy FPD also provides auto-aid on fires and motor vehicle accidents in Harmon, Ohio, Sublette, and West Brooklyn, while also providing mutual aid to Dixon City, Dixon Rural, Ashton, Franklin Grove, Harmon, Sublette, Advance EMS, and Compton. Amboy Fire Protection District is also a member of Mutual Aid Box Alarm System 38.
We’ve had the pleasure of filming with Amboy Fire Protection District several times over the past few years. From the Amboy Fire School to their recruitment films, we’ve witnessed firsthand the dedication Amboy Fire Protection District has to their community. We’ve been able to watch these first responders tackle their daily routines while balancing their continual training and emergency calls that come in.
